A couple weeks ago I received an email from a friend who publishes a neighborhood paper. She wanted to include something in the summer issue about books and put together a little questionaire about favorite reads, genres, habits, etc. One of the questions was along the line of "what do you think is the top overrated novel?" I replied that I thought it was The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I disliked that novel that we were forced to read in high school. I found it tedious and pedantic. Her "objectivism" struck me as a crock of sh*t. But whatever. To each his own.
So on to Ayn. I found this recent New Yorker piece pretty darn brilliant. Enjoy! If you've ever read any Ayn Rand, I hope you get a chuckle out of it.
